Merson-ASG completed a major signage package at King’s Cross Station in London – one of the city’s largest and most recognisable transport hubs. The new signage for King’s Cross is part of a £500 million restoration programme which includes the launch of the iconic new semicircular departures concourse as well as other improvements to cater for increased passenger flow and better integration with the London Underground station.
Merson worked with main contractor VINCI and Network Rail to deliver over 240 signs including the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke stove-enamelled and screen-printed products.
Installing the signage was a particular challenge on this project. Not only is King’s Cross Station a heritage site it was also a live environment for the project duration. Our installers were operating within 2-hour working windows during engineering night-shift hours to minimise disruption to station users.
Despite these challenges we delivered this project early having managed to reduce our 8-week manufacture lead time by 4 weeks and keeping all other elements of the project within time and budget.
